Cavaliers End Road Swing with Slugfest Win

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Walsh Cavaliers wrapped up a six game road trip across the states of Tennessee, Kentucky and Michigan on Monday (March 25) with a doubleheader at Davenport University.

The Cavaliers went 1-5 on the trip, capping off the weekend with a 16-run outburst against the Panthers.

Game One at Trevecca: L 8-4

  • The Cavaliers scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings against the Trojans.
  • Abbey Yaugher went deep for her first homerun of the season in the fifth inning, a solo shot. She added a RBI single in the sixth inning for her second hit and RBI of the game.
  • Emma Bobey had two hits, including a double.

Game Two at Trevecca: L 9-0 (5 innings)

  • Bobey and Hailey Warren reached on a walk and a hit by pitch, respectively.

Game One at Kentucky Wesleyan: L 4-2

  • Bobey plated two runs in the fifth inning with a two-run double as the Cavaliers clawed at the Panthers.
  • Alex Depue had a three hit game, with three singles in the two hole.

Game Two at Kentucky Wesleyan: L 8-0 (5 innings)

  • Jessie Rock had a double, one of four players with a base hit.

Game One at Davenport: L 11-1 (5 innings)

  • Bobey started the Cavaliers off with a RBI single in the first inning.
  • Katelyn Loughman went three-for-three with three singles in the leadoff spot.

Game Two at Davenport: W 16-11

  • Walsh had four multi-run innings as they scored three in the second, three in the third, four in the fourth and five in the fifth inning.
  • Davenport led 4-0 after one inning before the Cavaliers cut the lead to one.
  • Katelyn Kennedy cleared the bases with a three-run double in the second inning.
  • In the third inning, the Cavaliers got a run on an error, a Yasmine Rivera RBI groundout and Kennedy RBI single.
  • The fourth inning saw runs score when Bobey hit a RBI single, a two-run error was made and a wild pitch.
  • Rock and Bobey each had RBI doubles, Rivera and Loughman both had RBI singles and Alina Molette had a fielder's choice during the five-run fifth.
  • Overall, Walsh had 17 hits in the game with six players earning more than two hits.
  • Rock went three-for-five with two doubles, and two runs scored.
  • Kirsten Reed had three hits, two singles, a double and three runs scored.
  • Depue scored two runs on a walk and two singles.
  • Bobey had a two-hit game with a single, double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
  • Rivera finished with two singles, three runs scored, and two runs driven in.
  • Kennedy had a game-high four RBI on two and two walks.

The Cavaliers will host Ursuline College in a rescheduled conference doubleheader on Wednesday (March 27) at 3:30 and 5:30 PM.
