Cavaliers Win Second Straight, 16-5

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers women's lacrosse team carried over the momentum of Friday's win at Lake Erie into Sunday's game at Ursuline as the Cavaliers won the contest 16-5. 

Walsh has a 10-4 overall record and 2-2 conference mark with three conference games to go. 

Kendra Cowen-Tripp opened the game on a goal from an assist by Grace Andreski. Ursuline tied the game quickly before Walsh scored seven straight goals. Over a 15 minute span, six different players scored for the Cavaliers as they led 8-1 with 12:22 left in the first half. Becky Parker scored twice and had one assist with Cowen-Tripp, Jenny Spragg ad Ellen Lawrence each adding one goal and an assist. Sam Paulson and Lindsay Hindman also scored a goal each. After an Arrows goal, Walsh ended the first half with five straight goals. Parker added two more goals while Cowen-Tripp scored once and assisted on another goal. Grace Andreski and Hannah McFeeters both found the back of the net in the first half. Walsh led 13-2 at halftime. 

Ursuline started the second half with two consecutive goals, cutting the lead to single digits. Walsh created more distance with three straight goals. Cowen-Tripp scored her fourth goal of the game, assisted by Skylar Crandell with 27 minutes left. Crandall and Cowen-Tripp reversed roles as Crandall scored on a feed from Cowen-Tripp eight minutes later. McFeeters closed the scoring for Walsh with a goal in the final 13 minutes. Ursuline scored with 9:10 remaining, making the final score 16-5. 

Cowen-Tripp finished with seven points on four goals and three assists. Parker scored four goals with two groundballs. McFeeters tallied two goals, four groundballs and two caused turnovers. 

Walsh won the groundball battle, 22-11 and forced Ursuline to make 16 turnovers. Halle Kotulock had three groundballs as seven different players had multi-groundball days. 

Sarah Dankowski had four caused turnovers and two groundballs for the afternoon. 

Mikaela Faus and Rebecca Tomaszewski combined to make eight saves in the goal. 

Walsh will host Ohio Valley on Thursday (April 18) at 5:00 PM.
