Cavaliers Set Program Record for Wins in a Season

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Walsh Cavaliers women's lacrosse team set a new program record for wins in a season on Wednesday (April 24) evening at Vasco Field.

The Cavaliers improved to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the G-MAC following a 17-3 win over the Davis & Elkins Senators on Senior Night. Walsh is tied with Lake Erie and Findlay for second in the standings with 12 points.

Hannah McFeeters scored the game's first goal 13 seconds in off an assist from Jenny Spragg. Davis & Elkins scored three minutes later to tie the game up at one goal each. Over the next 15 minutes, Walsh scored 10 straight goals for an 11-1 lead. Jenny Spragg scored three goals while Sam Paulson and Linsday Hindman each scored two goals during the run. Becky Parker, Sarah Dankowski and Grace Andreski also scored goals for the Cavaliers. Parker and Emily Atwood had assists during the scoring spurt. The Senators scored with eight minutes left before halftime, stopping the streak. Walsh closed the first half scoring on an unassisted goal by Hindman. Walsh led 12-2 at halftime.

McFeeters converted a free position shot in the first two and a half minutes of the second half. Four minutes later, Davis & Elkins responded with a single goal. Walsh closed out the second half with four goals over the 23 minutes. Kendra Cowen-Tripp, Andreski, McFeeters and Alli Phillips all scored in the final half. Walsh won their fourth straight game with a 17-3 win.

McFeeters, Spragg and Hindman all scored three goals for the Cavaliers. Paulson scored two goals while Andreski tallied two goals, four groundballs and two draw controls.

As a team, Walsh grabbed 36 groundballs to the Senators' 12. Halle Kotulock led with six groundballs, Ellen Lawrence and Phillips each had four apiece. Mikaela Faus had three groundballs.

Kotulock had three caused turnovers on the day with Dankowski, Skylar Crandell and Hindman causing two of their own.

Faus made eight saves in 41 minutes in the goal.

The Cavaliers will close the 2019 regular season at Alderson Broaddus on Friday (April 26) at 6:00 PM.
