Tiffin Comes to Town as Walsh Opens G-MAC Play

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - After two non-conference games to start the 2019 season, the Walsh Cavaliers football team will welcome the Tiffin University Dragons for the opening game of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule. The Cavaliers and Dragons are one of three games on Saturday (Sept. 21) that have G-MAC implications. Kickoff from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium is at 1:00 PM Saturday. 

GAMEDAY INFORMATION

The Opening Kickoff

  • Walsh was defeated in the home opener, 34-12 by Ashland last week.
  • Nick Gassman accounted for both Walsh touchdowns as he had a running and passing touchdown. He found Dillon Smith on a 5-yard TD pass in the second quarter. The QB dove in on a keeper from one-yard out in the fourth quarter. Gassman finished with 147 yards passing on 11 completions. 
  • Koby Adu-Poku rushed for 58 yards on 20 carries and made four catches for 68 yards, a team-high. 
  • Stephen Baugh picked off Ashland's QB Austin Brenner in the second quarter, leading to Gassman's TD pass. He has an interception in each of the first two games, totaling 60 yards. 
  • Walsh and Tiffin have met 13 times, dating back to 1996. The Cavaliers led the series 8-5 with Tiffin winning the last three games. Tiffin won 27-20 last season at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
