Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh University women's lacrosse team fell in their second game of the season earlier Saturday (Feb. 22) to #19 Mercyhurst 16-6. Walsh falls to 0-2 early in the season, while Mercyhurst improves to 1-0.
Mercyhurst got off to a hot start in the first half as they put up 10 goals. The Cavaliers were able to come back in the second half, putting up five goals while Mercyhurst scored six.
Sophomore Hannah McFeeters scored the first five goals for the Cavaliers. The first came in the 24th minute of the first half, assisted by Ellen Lawrence. McFeeters got the draw control coming out of the second half and attacked the Lakers defense to score her second goal with only 12 seconds coming off the clock. She scored less than two minutes later off a free position shot. McFeeters scored her fourth goal in the 20th minute, once again assisted by Lawrence, before scoring her final goal of the game just under the five minute mark. Grace Andreski scored the final goal of the game with under four minutes of action remaining.
Rebecca Tomaszewski had seven saves in goal on 23 shots.
The Maroon and Gold will return to Vasco Field to face Notre Dame College on Friday (Feb. 28) at 4 pm.
