Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - In a preview of what we could see next season when the Ashland Eagles officially join the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the Walsh Cavaliers women's lacrosse team defeated Ashland 23-11 at Larry Staudt Field on Tuesday (March 16) night.

The short story: Walsh scored early and often as they started the game on a 9-0 run in the first 18 minutes. Eight different players scored on the run as Hannah McFeeters scored twice during the offensive onslaught. Ashland cut the lead to 9-2 with a pair of goals in the next three minutes. McFeeters and Melinda Maers answered with goals for Walsh off assists from Maers and Grace Andreski. Following an Eagles goal with 7:48 left, Kaytlyn Tokar responded with her second goal of the night just 40 seconds later. Ashland outscored Walsh 3-2 in the final seven minutes as Ellen Lawrence and Emily Atwood both scored for Walsh. The game was 14-6 at halftime. Ashland scored quickly in the second half but Walsh bounced back with six straight goals in a 13 minute period. Maers, McFeeters (two goals), Morgan Miller, Chloe Tatlow and Tokar all scored as Walsh moved the score to 20-7 with 16:52 left. The Eagles scored one minute later before Tatlow scored on an assist from Lindsay Hindman. Ashland added three straight goals while Isabella Kelty and Atwood scored on free position shots in the final four minutes.
FOR THE CAVALIERS
- Hannah McFeeters scored five goals for the Cavaliers, while adding four groundballs and four draw controls.
- Melinda Maers was tied for the team lead in points with five on three goals and two assists. Maers also had two draw controls as well.
- Chloe Tatlow had three goals and a team-high five draw controls.
- Kaytlyn Tokar added three goals with two groundballs, two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
- Lindsay Hindman totaled three points with one goal and two assists.
- Halle Kotulock tied Tokar for the team lead with two caused turnovers.
- Emily Atwood scored twice and picked up four groundballs.
- Ellen Lawrence gained three points on a goal and pair of assists. Lawrence also had two groundballs and a caused turnover.
- Grace Andreski had five draw controls and two points (goal and an assist)
- Kathleen Mendenhall made six saves and had four groundballs in goal.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Walsh led in the categories of shots (29-20), groundballs (22-8), clears (16-8), draw controls (18-16) and free position shots (7-2)
- 11 different Cavaliers scored in the game, including six different players with multiple goals.
