Box Score 2 NORTH CANTON, OH- Walsh earned their first G-MAC win of the 2021 season Monday (March 29th) afternoon against Kentucky Wesleyan College. The Cavs won the first game of the series 8-4 and came back to win the second game by a score of 4-3.

GAME ONE
Sara Gockenbach started in the circle for the Cavaliers, where she recorded nine total strikeouts in a win over Kentucky Wesleyan College.
The Panthers led the charge in the top of the second as they scored the first run of the series. The Cavaliers were quick to answer as both Katelyn Loughman and Sophia Slack scored two runs in the bottom of the second. Loughman reached first base on an error by the pitcher to start the inning. A wild pitch advanced Loughman to second base, with Slack behind her on first. A two-run RBI from shortstop Sarah Moats put Walsh up 2-1 at the end of the inning.
The Cavaliers scored the next five runs to make the score 7-2 at the bottom of the fourth. McKenna Voiers reached first base on an error by the pitcher, while teammates Sophia Slack and Kalin Kovach scored two additional runs to extend the Cavalier lead 4-1. Voiers stole home later in the inning to make the score 5-1. Bryn Elliott and Emma Bobey hit back-to-back doubles with runners on second to put Walsh up by six runs.
Trevecca responded with two more runs in the top of the fifth to cut Walsh's lead 7-4.
McKenna Voiers scored the final run of the game on an error by the second baseman, making the final score 8-4.
GAME TWO
Walsh came back in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete the sweep for the day.
Sarah Moats led off for the Cavaliers with a single to left field. Moats advanced to second base as Bryn Elliott was walked. Elliott advanced to second on a wild pitch, while Moats advanced two bases and scored the first run for the Cavaliers. Up 1-0, Jessie Rock hit a double to center field and later scored on a Sophia Slack RBI. At the end of the first, Walsh led 2-0
A strong defensive effort by both teams prevented runs from being scored until the top of the sixth. With a runner on third, a KWC double cut the Cavalier lead to 1. With one runner on base, Kaitlyn Lasala hit the only homerun of the series to put the Panthers up 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Down 3-2, the Cavaliers rallied back for the win. Bryn Elliott tied the game with a RBI double that allowed #22 Cali Frascone to score. #12 Sarah Moats scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch that advanced her from third to home.
Freshman Olivia Betson led Walsh in the final innings as three straight outs in the top of the seventh solidified the win for the Cavaliers.
