Box Score NORTH CANTON, OH- The Walsh University Women's Lacrosse team has made history after winning the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday (May 8). The Cavaliers, who were hosts to the Championship all weekend, defeated the Tiffin Dragons on Larry Staudt Field 15-7. This historic win would have the Cavaliers being the first ever Conference Champs for both the regular season and the tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hannah McFeeters started the scoring nearly nine minutes into the game with an unassisted goal. Tiffin scored three straight goals over the next four minutes for a 3-1 lead with 17:10 left in the first half. Walsh ended the first half with a 7-0 run on goals from McFeeters, Lindsay Hindman and Ellen Lawrence as the Cavaliers led 8-3 at halftime. The run extended into the second half with four consecutive goals over 12 minutes. Kendra Cowen-Tripp, Hindman and Isabella Kelty made it 12-3 in favor of Walsh with 17:47 left. Cowen-Tripp and Maers combined to score Walsh's final three goals as Walsh won 15-7.
FOR THE CAVALIERS:
- Lindsay Hindman would lead the Cavaliers as she connected on 5 goals.
- Hindman also contributed 2 ground balls and 3 draw controls.
- Offensive Player of the Year, Hannah McFeeters, totalled 4 goals, 2 assists and 4 groundballs.
- Kendra Cowen-Tripp scored 3 goals for the Cavs.
- Kathleen Mendenhall led in overall ground balls with a total of 8.
- Mendenhall also tallied 8 saves on 15 shots from the Dragons.
- Halle Kotulock's defensive force led to 3 Dragon caused turnovers.
- Kotulock also added 6 groundballs during the Championship game.
- The Cavaliers had 32 ground balls compared to the Dragons 15.
FOR THE DRAGONS:
- Elle Hamilton led the Dragon offense with 3 total goals, 3 groundballs and 3 caused turnovers.
The Maroon and Gold look to build on this seasons success in the 2022 season.
