Box Score CHARLESTON, West Virginia - The Walsh Cavaliers women's lacrosse team opened the 2022 season with a bang in the season opener at Eliott Field on Wednesday (Feb. 23) afternoon.
Walsh set the single game scoring record in a 26-4 win over the Charleston Golden Eagles. Twelve different players scored while seven players had assists as the Cavaliers set the contest mark for points (38).
Hannah McFeeters led the scoring attack with six goals in the game, as she became the all-time leading scorer for the program. McFeeters broke the previous record of 111 goals with her first goal of the day.
Isabella Kelty scored four goals and added two assists in a six-point afternoon. Ellen Lawrence had two goals and a game-high five assists to tie McFeeters for seven points.
Rachel Black and Melinda Maers each scored three goals while Katie Coomes gave Walsh three points in her collegiate debut (two goals and one assist).
The following players scored one goal each: Kaytlyn Tokar, Lindsay Hindman, Grace Andreski, Grace Santee, Sidney Klinger and Chloe Tatlow.
Halle Kotulock led the defense with four groundballs while Hindman and Maers both had three groundballs.
On the draw control front, McFeeters was the leader with six while Kotulock controlled five draws. Hindman added three with Andreski had two for the Cavaliers.
Kathleen Mendenhall made four saves with four goals allowed in goal.
Walsh will host #10 Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday (Feb. 27) afternoon in the home opener, beginning at 1:00 PM.
