WALSH SPLITS WITH TREVECCA IN NASHVILLE

NASHVILLE, TN- Walsh went 1-1 with Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday (March 26th) in Nashville, TN. The Cavs totaled 21 hits with six players having multi-hit games. 

Score: Game 1; Walsh 7, Trevecca 6 Game 2; Walsh 4, Trevecca 8

Records:  Walsh 6-10 (2-2), Trevecca 18-9 (4-2)

Location: Trojan Softball Complex (Nashville, TN)

GAME ONE (W 7-6)

  • Walsh started off hot as they took the lead 2-0 in the top of the first inning. Brooklyn Hellman reached third on a triple to left center. Hellman made the score 1-0 after scoring on a Katelyn Loughman single to shortstop. 
  • Loughman extended the Cavalier lead 2-0 after Emma Bobey hit a double to left field
  • McKenna Voiers singled to left center at the top of the fourth 
  • With runners on second and third, Brooklyn Hellman hit a two-run RBI single down the right field line to make the score 4-0
  • A Jessie Rock single advanced Hellman to second base 
  • Emma Bobey doubled down the right field line to send Rock and Hellman home, extending the Cavalier lead 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth
  • The Trojans answered by scoring five runs to put them within one
  • McKenna Voiers made the score 7-5 with a solo-homer at the top of the fifth
  • Trevecca scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score 7-6
  •  Sarah Cantley earned her first win of the season to improve to 1-4
  • Sara Gockenbach threw a team-high three strikeouts on the day
  • Brooklyn Hellman and Emma Bobey led Walsh in hits at three a piece

GAME TWO (L 4-8)

  • Trevecca struck first as they jumped to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second
  • The Trojans extended the lead to 6-0 with three hits in the bottom of the third
  • Jessie Rock and Sarah Cantley hit homeruns in the top of the fourth to put Walsh on the board 
  • Trevecca scored an additional two runs to put the Trojans ahead 8-2
  • Walsh went on to score two runs in the top of the seventh to make the final score 8-4
  • Jessie Rock, McKenna Voiers, and Bryn Elliott each had a pair of hits

The Cavaliers continue conference play Saturday, April 2nd, as they host the Oilers from Findlay University.
