WALSH UNABLE TO WEATHER THE STORM IN G-MAC DOUBLEHEADER

PAINESVILLE, OH- The Cavaliers fell to the Storm from Lake Erie College Friday (April 15th). Walsh lost game one 9-4 and game number two 8-6. 

Records: Walsh 6-18 (2-10), Lake Erie 10-20 (5-7)

Location: Diamond 9 at Rec. Park (Painesville, OH)

Game One (L, 9-4):

  • The Storm jumped to an 8-0 start through the second inning as they recorded four hits
  • Madi Russo and Bryn Elliott each hit a single in the bottom of the third
  • With bases loaded, McKenna Voiers hit a two-run RBI singl to put Walsh within seven
  • Down 9-2, Brooklyn Hellman reached first on a single in the top of the seventh
  • Hellman advanced to  second on an error by the shortstop as McKenna Voiers reached first base
  • A fielder's choice by Sarah Moats put runners on first and second 
  • A Jessie Rock single made bases loaded with Emma Bobey up to bat 
  • Bobey reached first on an error by the shortstop as Voiers scored to mak the score 9-3
  • A Katelyn Loughman sacrifice fly to right field made the final score 9-4

Game Two (L, 8-6)

  • Walsh struck first as Jessie Rock hit a triple in the top of the first to put the Cavs ahead 1-0
  • The Cavalier's extended their lead by three in the top of the second as Madi Russo led off with a single
  • A Brooklyn Hellman two-run RBI single made the score 3-0
  • Macie Loparo doubled to send Hellman home and make the score 4-0 heading into the bottom of the third
  • Lake Erie scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth
  • Up 4-1, Jessie Rock, Emma Bobey, and Madi Russo each hit singles to make bases loaded in the top of the fifth
  • A McKenna Voiers RBI double added two more runs, making the score 6-1
  • The Storm answered as they went on to score four runs on six hits
  • Walsh struggled to connect for the remainder of the game as Lake Erie scored two more runs to take the lead 
  • Sara Gockenbach threw four strikeouts on the day
