NORTH CANTON, Ohio - For the second straight season, the Walsh Cavaliers women's lacrosse team rolled through the 2022 Great Midwest Women's Lacrosse Championship and had the same result. Walsh retained the title on their home field, resulting in a back-to-back championship. 

After defeating Tiffin 20-3 in the semifinal, the Cavaliers had a rematch with the Findlay Oilers on Championship Saturday (May 7). Walsh rolled past the Oilers 17-6 to conclude the season with a title. 

Thursday vs. Tiffin (W, 20-3)

• Walsh jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the contest before Tiffin scored halfway through the second quarter. The Cavaliers finished the first half with five straight goals to take a 12-1 lead into halftime. Walsh outscored Tiffin 3-2 in the third quarter before Walsh shutout the Dragons in the fourth quarter. 
• Eight different players scored for the Cavaliers as five players had multiple goals.
  • Hannah McFeeters tallied five points on four goals and one assist, with two groundballs.
  • Melinda Maers had four goals with a pair of groundballs and draw controls. 
  • Isabella Kelty scored three times and assisted on two other goals. 
  • Lindsay Hindman totaled four points on three goals and one assist to go with three draw controls. 
  • Grace Andreski scored three times with two draw controls.
  • Rachel Black assisted on five goals with five groundballs. 
  • Chloe Tatlow and Katie Coomes each scored one goal.
  • Ellen Lawrence finished with seven points on one goal and six assists.

Tanisha Steele caused three turnovers and grabbed three groundballs. Halle Kotulock controlled five draws and had two groundballs.

Kathleen Mendenhall made five saves in 60 minutes in goal. 

Saturday vs. Findlay (W, 17-6)

• The Cavaliers struck first on a Rachel Black goal before Findlay tied the game 90 seconds later. Walsh went on a 5-0 run as Findlay closed the first quarter with a goal. Walsh led 6-2 after the first 15 minutes. Findlay bookended three straight Walsh goals in the second quarter with the first and last goal. Walsh led 9-4 at halftime over the Oilers. In the second half, Walsh outscored Findlay 8-2, including a shutout in the third period. When the clock hit zero, Walsh won the G-MAC title 17-6.
• Six players found the back of the net with a couple of big games. 
  • Grace Andreski scored six goals with a pair of goals in each of the first, third and fourth quarters.
  • Rachel Black had three goals and one assist.
  • Lindsay Hindman filled the stat sheet with three goals, three groundballs, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. 
  • Isabella Kelty scored twice with two groundballs. 
  • Hannah McFeeters finished with two goals, two groundballs, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. 
  • Ellen Lawrence assisted on four goals to go along with her only goal. 
  • Melinda Maers assisted on one fourth quarter goal. 

On defense, Walsh forced 14 of 20 Findlay turnovers. Tanisha Steele and Mallory Miller each had three caused turnovers and three groundballs. 

Kathleen Mendenhall had six saves and four groundballs in the goal.
