Men's LAX Downed by No. 16 Mount Olive

Box Score

(MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.) – The Walsh men's lacrosse team fell to nationally ranked No. 16 Mount Olive by a score of 13-4 at the McDonald Lacrosse Complex on Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to 0-4 on the year while the Trojans improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Maroon and Gold defense held up well for the first part of the game and held the Trojans to just one goal in the opening quarter. Mount Olive was able to make it 2-0 in the early part of the second before Kevin McMahon put the Cavaliers on the board with an unassisted strike with 9:21 to go in the half.

Walsh added a second just before the end of the third quarter as reigning G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week Benjamin Suchomma found the back of the net on an assist by Jake Shenderovsky. Shenderovsky and Suchomma both added goals in the fourth quarter.

Suchomma also did well in helping the Cavaliers get and keep possession with five ground balls on the day. Maurice Kelly and Shenderovsky each added three.

The Cavs will remain on the road on spring break and will head to Georgia to take on Young Harris this Friday. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
