(YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.) – The Walsh men's lacrosse team battled Young Harris, but were unable to keep up with the hosts in the second half as it fell 13-6 on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers (0-5) scored early in the second half to make a two-goal game, but the Mountain Lions (6-3) proceeded to go on a 6-0 run to decide the game.

The Cavs opened the game with a goal by Frank Savena before Young Harris responded with the next four goals. Walsh didn't go down quietly and responded with two of the next three scores thanks to Brent Mitchell and Maurice Kelly on an assist from Savena.

Kelly's goal came on a man-up opportunity and appeared to give Walsh momentum, but the Lions were able to score with just over a minute left in the second to take a 6-3 lead into the break.

Marcus Brown scored for Walsh in the third, but it wouldn't be until the middle of the fourth that the Cavs were able to find the back of the net again. Jake Shenderovsky ended Young Harris' run with the goal at 8:38 and Benjamin Suchomma followed with a score of his own just over four minutes later, but time ran out on the Maroon and Gold.

Noah Ross did well in goal despite the loss with 11 saves on the day. It's the fourth game this season he's reached double-figures in saves.

Walsh will be back in action this Wednesday when it heads up to Painsville to take on Lake Erie in its G-MAC opener. Face-off with the Storm is scheduled for 7 p.m.
